Swellendam is perfectly positioned halfway between Cape Town and George (two hours drive either way)

Swellendam at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains named after Govenor Hendrik Swelengrebel and his wife Helena Ten Dame was used by early travellers and explorers as a replenishment station and in 1743 Swellendam was declared a magisterial district, the third oldest in South Africa.

 

Directions

From Cape Town Airport - Take the Somerset West turn off onto the N2, carry on for about 220 km until you reach the outskirts of Swellendam, (pass the first turn off to the left which reads Swellendam West-Ashton), take the next turn off to the left which reads Swellendam-Railton. You are now in Somerset street - follow the road to No.10 Somerset street (the house with the white picket fence).

From George - Take the N2 carry on for about 220 km until you reach a sign which reads Swellendam East. Turn right at the sign and follow the road pass the Museum complex until you reach the big white church. Turn left at the church into Church street-follow the road over the bridge and turn right into Somerset street we are situated at No 10 Somerset street (the house with the white picket fence)
